How to Convert QFX to CSV (No Quicken Required)

QFX is just OFX with a Quicken-only header. Banks ship it because Intuit charges them to. The problem: if you don't pay for Quicken, the file is useless — Excel won't open it, Google Sheets won't import it, and most bookkeeping tools reject it.

What is a QFX file?

QFX (Quicken Financial Exchange) is an XML/SGML format Intuit licenses to banks. Under the hood it's almost identical to plain OFX — same blocks, same date format, same amount fields. The only real difference is a header that ties the file to a paid Quicken subscription.

That means any OFX parser can read QFX. You don't need Quicken at all.
